Mentoring and Spiritual Growth

Welcome to my mentoring page. I’m so glad you are interested in learning more!

Let me tell you a little bit about my professional background first.

I have not always been in ministry. I wasn’t raised in the Bible. I was raised Catholic and attended church every Sunday, as well as Catholic school. I was saved at 31 on the floor of my grad school apartment.  That was when I found faith wasn’t just about religion, but a relationship God wanted to have with me.  Ever since, I’ve been passionate about helping people find theirs.

My professional background has been in Presidential politics (of all things). I used to plan events at the White House, work on Homeland Security, and send surrogates around the country on behalf of the President. That job just about killed me. Nothing like a stressful job to make you find out what you really want to do!

When I left Washington, I wanted to pursue my Master's at the University of Notre Dame (where I had attended undergrad), thinking I wouldn’t make a difference in Washington. Maybe I could in the world of nonprofits.

I thought a degree in non-profit business would allow me to create a national non-profit on childhood obesity. But the Lord had other plans. He made me deal with my own issues first, and pretty soon after I started, I found myself in treatment for addictions. Over time, He revealed that it was never about the weight, but the root issues. You can read more about my journey to realizing that in my first book, “Healthy Voice: Life Beyond the Weight.” And don’t worry, it’s not a diet book. It’s a book that helps you realize it’s NOT about the diet, but what’s going on at the root.

That whole journey showed me a very important factor about my work: I was going to have to walk the walk if I was going to lead people. It also showed me that it was the people who’d been on the journey before me, who had overcome, that could often help the most. It also revealed to me the gift God has given me in writing and communication.

I am trained as a Life Coach. I hold two degrees from the University of Notre Dame, and I’ve spent the last decade-plus coaching young women in college, mentoring them in the church, and in my community to discover their purpose and direction in the Lord. However, I am not a counselor or therapist, nor do I claim to be one.

So, if you are looking for someone to be your personal Life Coach, I can absolutely help you with that. Often, this approach works best when you are in a season of transition or feel stuck or overwhelmed. I can work with you to uncover what’s inside of you and listen more closely for the Lord’s direction. But I won’t point you to the universe or yourself alone. I can help you in a season of crisis, but I will point you to the Father. I would happily work with you if this is you. You can click HERE to find out more about the journeys that I understand, and I can coach you through them. You can click HERE to send me more information about yourself to see if we’d be a good fit.

If you are looking for more of a one-on-one spiritual mentor, you are someone who probably wants to seek the Lord or grow deeper in your relationship with Him, and you are looking for someone to guide you through that. I’m happy to do that as well.
