Episode 14 & 15: Pregnant at Notre Dame: The Joint Testimony of an Army ROTC Alumnae and Her Daughter, A Pro-Life Activist

So, this DOUBLE podcast is coming to you during March for Life Week. I am so excited about this mother/daughter powerhouse team for life. Lacy and I went to Notre Dame back in the day and she got pregnant her senior year. We got reconnected in the last few years and I always said, I want to have you on my show with your daughter. So, we finally got to do it – for March for Life Week. This is two parts because both mom and daughter share their testimony and it’s just beautiful. Only God. Part 1 is Mom, Lacy Miske and Part 2 is Mary Logan Miske. You will not want to miss it. What’s funny is about a day before we recorded this, Lacy told me this would be the first time her and her daughter would be sharing their story together publicly. I am honored and humbled to be able to just create the space for God to display His glory in this testimony. I pray it blesses you as you listen to all the ways He’s touched the lives of these two women.

Lacy Miske graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies and was commissioned as an Army Officer in 1999. After completing her Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, Lacy served in positions of increasing responsibility while stationed in Germany, including a combat deployment to Iraq in 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Lacy graduated from the Quartermaster Officer Advanced Course in 2004 before completing her military service in the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky in 2005. Upon completing her military service, Lacy applied her military logistics background towards managing transportation services at Bank of America where she worked for thirteen years and also represented their military hiring campaign.

From 2007-2013, Lacy served on the Board of Directors for Room at the Inn (now MiraVia) in Charlotte, NC as they established the nation’s first college based maternity home and daycare at Belmont Abbey College. In 2009, Lacy was invited by the Notre Dame Center for Ethics and Culture to speak at the University of Notre Dame’s peaceful “Rally for Life” organized by ND Response in opposition to Notre Dame’s decision to honor President Obama as the most pro-abortion president at the time.

Lacy is an Army Veteran, Military Spouse, mother of five, and an active parishioner at her local Catholic parish. She continues to stay involved in the pro-life movement and advocates for Catholic colleges, to include her alma mater, to build maternity residences with built-in daycare in order to allow pregnant students to choose life and complete their college degrees.

Mary-Logan Miske is a graduate of the University of San Diego with a BA in Communications Studies and a minor in Political Science. Mary-Logan served as the Presidential Intern for Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, in the summer of 2021. During her senior year at USD, she created a pro-life branch, Toreros For Life, under USD College Republicans and hosted Kristan Hawkins at USD for “The Future is Anti-Abortion” tour that sparked conversation and even a protest against the event at a Catholic University which gained national media attention from Catholic News Agency, Catholic World Report, and National Catholic Register. Mary-Logan has helped facilitate and lead several pro-life rallies and counter-protests in the San Diego area. Upon graduation from USD, Mary-Logan has chosen to devote her time and energy to share her gifts and pro-life activism in a state she believes needs it the most, now serving as the first-ever Califorinia Regional Coordinator for Students For Life of America.

There are a few Scriptures that kept coming to my mind in the midst of this double interview, especially with Mary Logan and I just want to share them here. If you are a woman who feels like God has called you for a purpose and He’s preparing you for battle in the world, I pray you’ll be strengthened by these Scriptures and encouraged by the witness of Mary Logan. Here they are:

1“Praise be to the Lord my Rock,

who trains my hands for war,

my fingers for battle.

2He is my loving God and my fortress,

my stronghold and my deliverer,

my shield, in whom I take refuge,

who subdues peoples a under me.” Psalm 144:1-2 (NIV)

______
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)

______

13 “Moses answered the people, ‘Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.'” Exodus 14:13-14 (NIV)

______

10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
